blogsArt vs. CommunityRecently PAD announced they would be closing their doors due to a lack in funding. So unfortunate. And yet it's an all too-common occurance. Before my travels took me to England I served as the Education Director for a non-profit arts organization in the States. I got the sad news in January that I was going be laid off. While their organization didn't completely shut down, it was forced to make significant changes which included shutting down their Studio School - a wonderful resource for the community. Thoughts on David NashThe Yorkshire Sculpture Park is located in a wonderfully bucolic setting on the outskirts of Wakefield. The design of the Park dates back 200 years - it is beautiful and vast. I visited the Park a couple of weeks ago with the Lancashire Artists' Network to see the David Nash exhibition, which is on display through February 2011. Contemplating "Blue" ArtA couple of days ago I visited the Tate Museum in Liverpool. Included in their collection is one of Yves Klein's infamous blue paintings. A trademark color the artist patented and, according to the placard next to the painting, he believed "had a quality close to pure space." Brilliance or bull?
